BLOOM: TRANSGENDER COMMUNITY HEALING PROJECT AND PEACOCK REBELLION PRESENT A

FREE Name and Gender ID Change Drop-In Legal Clinic 

Saturday, December 10, 2016 11am-7pm

@ Liberating Ourselves Locally, 1234 23rd Ave. @ International Blvd., Oakland 

Liberating Ourselves Locally (LOL) is a people of color -led, social justice Maker Space in East Oakland. Led by a gender-diverse, majority queer and trans crew of hackers, healers, artists and activists of color, LOL makes space and resources for community to come learn, play, experiment, and build skills while working on projects they love, for self-determination and community power. LOL is located in the San Antonio district of Oakland, one of the most diverse districts in Oakland, with large communities of Spanish-speaking families, Southeast Asians, and African Americans. 

We request that visitors be respectful and mindful of LOL and our majority low-income people of color neighborhood, as we are opening up our doors to the broader community to offer support and services. 

Trans and nonbinary peers will provide guidance in:

* filling out California Court paperwork for name and/or gender change and fee waivers 

* applying for an amended California birth certificate 

passport card & book application.

Packets will be pre-printed for you to fill out, just bring current legal documentation, a notebook, and your questions. Lawyers will be available for one-on-one conversations for complicated cases involving immigration/citizenship status, probation or court supervision, and other issues that would otherwise be a barrier.

medical provider will be on-site for physician signatures, as needed, and offering brief physical examinations. We will also have a healers, body workers, and peer counselors on site for support. 

Childcare and food will be available.

ASL and Spanish interpretation will be provided upon request.

Please contact Tobie at tobie@bloomhealing.org at least one week prior (by Friday 12/02) to request interpretation.

This event is wheelchair accessible. There are no stairs to enter the building, however the door does not have a push button entrance.
