So welcome to Fresh, a weekly, curated compass to some fly QTPOC activist art, protests and other goodness. We hope it helps you find your way. We really hope you get, and take, some action. * This is focused on public events w/ a social justice bent, produced by or featuring Two Spirit, trans, intersex and queer people of color and mixed race folks, that promote healing from oppression. We don't list secret actions because you can't keep a secret and neither can we. Sometimes we list events by white/straight folks doing something you might be into. * Check back here each Monday-ish for the latest. Or sign up for Peacock email to get it in your inbox...wink. The Alex Nieto Case along with the Mario Woods case are direct examples of the detrimental effects of systematic racism, gentrification, and police impunity. In order to win justice for these two young men and our communities as a whole, we must unite! The goal of this March is to create solidarity not only with the families of Alex Nieto and Mario Woods but also the surrounding friends, family, and community members. The march will start in two locations: Bernal heights and Bay View. Both groups will march towards each other until they meet. Please come out to help celebrate the lives of these young men, and the many others lost to state violence in San Francisco. The SF mayor has been absent as tons of SF people have tried to talk w/ him about the inhumane way Chief Suhr runs SF's police force. Suhr kept building a culture of racism and brutalization that gave those five officers permission to assassinate Mario Woods. If Lee won't fire Chief Suhr, who refuses to step down, then Lee should know that he gotta go too. We’re Still Here shares untold stories of the first gen born with HIV in the 80s and 90s. The film follows director Grissel Granados as she embarks on her own journey to seek out other people who were born with HIV and create community where it hadn’t existed before. Now as adults, these long-term survivors are telling their stories in their own words and on their own terms.
